Each route's duration is an estimate derived from the great-circle distance between the two airports, not a live schedule lookup. We take the shortest path over the curve of the Earth, add a small routing margin because real flight tracks bend for wind and airways, divide by a typical jet cruise speed, and add a fixed allowance for taxi, climb, and descent. That puts most non-stop estimates within roughly 10 to 15 percent of the published block time. Wind is the biggest swing: a westbound transatlantic crossing into the jet stream can run an hour longer than the same route eastbound.
