Time zone comparison
Eastern Standard Time (EST, UTC-04:00) vs Singapore Time (SGT, UTC+08:00). Right now EST is 12h behind SGT.
Heads up: these zones diverge on daylight saving.
EST observes DST while SGT does not, so the gap shifts by an hour twice a year. In January the difference is 13h, in July it is 12h. If you are scheduling across the spring or autumn transitions, double-check the date.
Each row is one hour. Green rows are when both sides are inside 9 AM to 5 PM.

Singapore Time runs thirteen hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time during the US winter and twelve hours ahead during US daylight saving (EDT). New York-to-Singapore is one of the wider trans-Pacific gaps but easier to coordinate than New York-to-Tokyo because the 12-hour summer gap creates a clean morning-NYC-to-evening-Singapore overlap. When New York is at 8 PM, Singapore is at 8 AM the next day in winter (9 AM in summer). When Singapore is at 8 AM, New York is at 7 PM the previous evening in winter (8 PM in summer). The practical shared window is the late-afternoon EST to morning-Singapore slot the next day: 6-8 PM EST is 7-9 AM Singapore next day in winter. Most US-Singapore teams converge on 8 AM EST (9 PM Singapore in winter) as the synchronous-call window because it is the closest the two ends come to overlapping during US business hours. The corridor is heavily used by global investment banks coordinating Singapore APAC operations with New York head office, and by US tech firms with Singapore APAC HQs (Stripe, Salesforce, Google, Meta).
No conventional overlap. Pragmatic shared hour is 8 AM EST (9 PM SGT in winter, 8 PM SGT in summer).
Default to 8 AM EST (9 PM Singapore in winter, 8 PM in summer) for synchronous calls. The Singapore side accepts this as late-evening client time. For asynchronous workflows, the standard is Singapore end-of-day (6 PM Singapore, 5 AM EST in winter) handing off to New York morning. New York end-of-day (5 PM EST, 6 AM Singapore next day in winter) hands off to Singapore office-open. Avoid recurring late-night calls in both zones; they burn out either side within a quarter.
Singapore is the regional HQ for most US tech firms' Asia-Pacific operations: Google APAC, Meta APAC, Stripe APAC, Salesforce APAC, Adobe APAC, and Cisco APAC all have Singapore offices. The standard cadence is a weekly 8 AM EST (9 PM Singapore) all-hands sync, with quarterly travel for deeper coordination. US investment banks (Goldman, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Citi) maintain large Singapore desks for ASEAN coverage and run morning-NYC to evening-Singapore coordination calls. Outside finance and tech, US pharma (Pfizer, Merck) coordinates Asia-Pacific operations through Singapore APAC HQs on the same overnight-handoff model.
